[Fishing] MoP [15640] New Companion - Fishy

    Potentially a fishing related companion from the latest beta;

    Fishy
    Right Click to summon and dismiss Bubbles.

    So looks like it summons a companion called 'Bubbles'.

    I had a feeling visiting Glassfin Village in The Jade Forest zone yesterday, that the fish in a bubble, which looks a likely candidate for this NPC would be made available. It can be seen in the Glassfin Village inn as a goldfish floating around in a bubble.

    So perhaps a companion available this new faction, the 'Glassfin Jinyu', or via fishing (loot or reward)

    I find the whole Glassfin Jinyu interesting. In their village there are some fishing by casting fishing nets which at least gives an in-game animation for this form of fishing. Also they 'farm fish' with underwater wooden cages around the waters edge. Possibly a way for players to 'farm' fish with The Anglers as we will be able to grow and harvest items in our own Farm with The Tillers.

    It is not possible to reach The Anglers as that zone is blocked off to see if there are any similar set ups. Anyhow food for thought.

    Another potential fishing related companion;

    Shore Crab
    Right Click to summon and dismiss your crab.

    For reference, new pets categorized as Aquatic - and therefore most likely to caught by fishing - are:

    • Baby Skark (lurking for years in data files, never seen)
    • Bubbles (presumably also "Fishy")
    • Shore Crab (but found as a critter around the Anglers Wharf)
    • Tiny Water Strider
    • Turquoise Turtle (Azshara wild pet)

    There are a few other pet families that might spawn a fish catch, such as the Otter Pup.

    I'm told that Fishy is a reward for a quest in the Jade Forest.

    Ok that makes sense as we can see now the Tiny Goldfish as The Anglers faction reward which is much the same model I expect.

    One thing I am still a little puzzled by is that there is a NPC in Pearlfin Village, The Jade Forest called Bubblemaker Ashji <Pet Vendor> who walks around the village with a group of the same companion Tiny Goldfish. The vendor does not sell anything yet (maybe requires more faction to access). Maybe The Angler faction version is a colour variant.

    Confirmed. 'Fishy' is a reward from the quest 'Let Them Burn' given by 'Admiral Taylor' in the Pearlfin Village, The Jade Forest.

    This must be a recent addition.

    I have finished all quests in Jade Forest and didn't get this reward.

    It maybe an Alliance only quest line, if you you are playing a Horde character on the Beta server?

    Looking back through the quest chain (it's right from the near beginning quests for Alliance at Wayward Landing) it seems to start with;

    Quest: The Missing Admiral

    leading all the way to a quest given in the Pearlfin Village;

    Quest: Let Them Burn

    which is shown on wowhead as the one giving this pet reward;

    Let Them Burn

    There are other questlines which may be involved such as the ones from Lorewalker Cho (notably The Dream Brew which takes you on a flight to the location of Prince Anduin) and another loot drop quest item, Trail of the White Pawn, although I do not know if this is necessary or just a breadcrumb quest.

    As a note although you get the 'Fishy' companion as the final reward, on learning it, it does not show up in the new Pet Journal so it is not possible to summon at the moment. I guess they need to update the list of pets in the journal for the new ones.

    The pet was added as a reward to an existing quest, which means any character that previously completed that quest cannot get the new reward. Just a quirk of testing.

    Command /use petname (eg /use fishy) will summon any pet you thought you had learnt. The current User Interface is heavily bugged.

    Yeah, I always save one character copy for when they say everything is done.
    Then I play through the quests one last time.
