[Fishing] Old Ironjaw in 42 min

I've been spending hoursrecently in the forlorn cavern vainly trying to get OI to bite...
Literally filling my bags up each time, and now that it's no longer possible to fish from the Mystic Ward pool it's getting more than a little soul-destroying spending hour after hour on my own in the arse end of IF with only my randompet macro and late night guildchat for company/sanity saving :(

I managed to catch Old Crafy on my human level 10.. I ran through the 'back door' and went towards the Valley of Honor. In my level I wouldn't want to come near those Troll Roof Stalkers. Since my low level made the guards chase me at very long distances I learned myself that if I while running frequently clicked "A" and "D" the guards/other mobs wouldn't be able to chase me in a straight line and instead they run zig-zag. Anyhow just wanted to let people know that if they play a roleplay server, like I do, and still are in the low levels but desire fishing then this achievement is indeed possible to complete! ;)

Yesterday my gf went on her NE character and tried Old Ironjaw. She copied me, got herself a couple of water walking potions and went to the back of the pool in Forlorn cavern, lied down and started to fish. It took 11 minutes for her to get Old Ironjaw.
I will try it on my other characters this weekend, see if the lying down actually helps.

I just wanted to thank everyone here for your posts, after reading them it made me want to go fishing for Old Ironjaw myself. I started out the day by doing my daily cooking and fishing quests. The cooking quest was the Sewer stew quest. When I was down in the sewer dropping off my goods to finish the cooking quest I noticed that there were a lot of folks fishing, which made it easy to guess what the fishing quest in Dal was today. So I went back up and grabbed the quest and headed back down again, 10 to 15 pulls later I got my Corroded Jewelry . I turned the item in and got my goodie bag, to my happy surprise there was a Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat in the bag!!! Of course I tried the bad boy on and it looks good….

My next stop was to Shatt for that daily quest, which turned out to be Crocolisks in the City. Took the port to Org and had him fished up in 15 to 20 pulls. After taking care of some business in Org, I figured “what the heck” I would give SW a shot. I followed the instruction laid out in the forum and made my way to Stormwind Harbor. While hugging the cliff I saw the area name change to Stormwind Harbor, as I continued north I noticed that the Name of the area changed to Stormwind City, I was still south of the Harbor and could not see it yet. As there was no place to stand and fish, I popped a water walking potion and let my line fly to see what would happen. It worked, I right clicked my bobber and “BONG” I get the The Fishing Diplomat achievement. I then decided to make my way to the Light house; the water walking made it an easy ride to get there.

So here I am looking at Stormwind Harbor debating if I want to go for the Triple Crown or not and also looking for any signs of life that might come my way. I just then remembered that before I got here, that there were calls out in the trade channel that UC was under attack. I figured that if the Alliance are up sacking UC that this might be the best time to run the gauntlet to IF. So off I went into Stormwind like a streakier running across a football field. After a wrong turn or two I finally find my way to the Tram tunnel. The whole time ridding through the City I didn’t see a soul, not counting the city guards that were on my butt. I decided not to take the Tram and made the long run to IF instead.

While in the tunnel I noticed that my PvP icon started its cool down timer. I thought that was good just in case I see any Alliance players on the IF side of the tunnel, they wouldn’t be able to attack me. I make it to the IF side and there is no one in site. Once I cross over into IF, I jump onto my ride and hooked a right heading for Forlorn Cavern like a bat out of Hell. It wasn’t long before I picked up my first set of Argos from the city guards and the chase is on. I’m now praying I don’t get wacked off my ride, so I just kept my “W” key mashed down and head into the next area. As soon as I hit the new area I picked up three more guards and ran smack over some Alliance player. I had no time to look back to see if he picked up the chase or to see what LvL he was. Now I’m thinking, if make it to the cavern ill head for the back of the pool and take the death that the guards are sure to give me, rez then run back and start fishing. I make it into the cavern and head strait for the back of the pool. As soon as I get to the back wall I turn to see the guards making there way across the pool coming for yours truly. Then just as there half way across the pool, they make a 180 degree turn and head back out of the cavern!!! I can’t believe I just made it all the way here and not one death.

Now that I’m here I take a quick look around the cavern to see if I have picked up the interest of any Alliance players and pull my fishing pole out for what I hope to be some good uninterrupted stealth fishing. The area is clear so I type /sleep and start fishing. Here is where you guys and gals are really going to hate me. After only seeing three Alliance players run past with out so much as a glance my way, I pull up Old Ironjaw on my 41st pull… I get some Gratzes from my guild mates and harth back to Dal. I'm starting to think my new fishing hat is my new” lucky fishing hat”.

Well no Ironjaw yet. Spent almost 3 hours fishing at the back of the Forlorn Cavern last night. Ran through the main gates and got to the back of the cavern before the guards beat me to a pulp.
Quite a few alliance came to 'check me out'. A /wave and /salute usually resulted in them leaving me alone or fishing close by. One person did decide they would hit me with their fishing rod every few minutes but they soon got bored when I didn't retaliate.
All was going well until a DK ran straight up to me, kicked me to death while I was lied down and proceeded to corpse camp me for the next 15 minutes.
Oh well there's always tommorrow for another attempt.
Will let you know when he's in the bag :)

    I finally caught Ironjaw!!

I have been fishing for about 1-2 hours for the past 3 nights, and have had no luck.. with roughly 1100 casts and still no sign of him. I was starting to think maybe I was too low lvl for the achievement (who knows, most people do this when they're high lvl I'm assuming), or that I didn't have a high enough skill level. Or maybe I was doing it at a bad time of the day, lol (up to 3am server time).

Finally though, today I decided to take some advice of what I've read in this thread... I bought a few water walking pots, and went to the back of the Forlorn Cavern, laid down on top of the water, and I managed to catch Old Ironjaw before my first pot was up (within 5 minutes).

My char is a lvl 41 ally and my fishing level is 300(+5). I did not have to use any lures to be able to catch him. I caught him at around 1pm server time.

I have no idea if any of these variables really even matter, but I do find it funny that I caught him so quickly once I laid down at the back!!

If you haven't found him, just keep trying! Put on some good music & sit back and relax. You'll get him eventually! :)
