[Fishing] Old Ironjaw, The Fishing Diplomat, and the Horde

    I will add that if you intend to catch Old Ironjaw, be prepared to cast over 1,000 times. Here is my record of catches from 10/25-10/26 at Ironforge in Moon Guard (US).

    • Longjaw Mud Snapper: 977
    • Bristle Whisker Catfish: 355
    • Brilliant Smallfish: 251
    • Lesser Mana Potion: 4
    • 17 Pound Catfish: 3
    • Lesser Healing Potion: 3
    • 19 Pound Catfish: 2
    • Old Ironjaw: 2
    • Heavy Shortbow: 1
    • Bloated Mud Snapper: 1
    • Pattern: Green Woolen Bag: 1
    • Hunting Pants: 1

    That is 2 catches of Old Ironjaw over 1,601 casts. I did not see him the first time until cast #1235, and having developed a comfortable pattern, I failed to click "OK" on the Bind on Pickup notification. After blowing off some steam, I sat back down the next day and caught the slippery scaleback 366 casts later. I averaged 200 casts an hour with autoloot turned on.

    I don't know why they keep breaking the confirmation dialog box; it should NOT show up if you aren't in a party, period. It USED to work correctly for a very short time but got broken again.

    I did the fishing diplomat yesterday as horde.
    It was really easy actually , running from Westfall and using Levitate (Water walking pots from the fishing daily should work fine as replacement)
    Just after zoning into the next area hug the cliffs to the right and you should zone from Stormwind Harbour into just "Stormwind" , fish something and TADA! achivement done without any deaths :-)

    I got my Old Crafty after about 950 casts in Ogrimar (being alliance) hiding inside the waterfalls in the Valley of Honor. With elixirs of camouflage the hunter was almost none existent. I also used Noggenfoggers to get the buff that makes you very small. The few times an enemy player walked in to check they just missed me!

    Of course I came up with these ideas during the corpse runs from earlier attempts ;)

    Forgive me but are you saying that you are a hunter? The reason I ask is that you can use Aspect of the Beast to do the same thing as an Elixir of camouflage.

    Hi, first post on this wonderful site! I came home from work yesterday morning (night shift zzz) and decided to get the Fishing Diplomat achievement while there was nobody online. I simply bought a couple of Invisibility Potions from the Auction House, rode up to the Stormwind gate and popped the potion a good 20-30 yards from the guards. Then I just walked down the ramp to the left, cast and voila, done. Hearthed out before anyone saw me.

    I imagine this would be hard to do during prime time due to duellers, but very easy during the night or maybe in the morning while drinking your morning coffee. :-)

    I caught Ironjaw on my DK long ago in the lava of Ironforge. Went there today with my pally, trying to do the trick of standing behind the wheel and fishing again... turns out lava is no longer fishable :( jumped on an old ally toon to confirm. So only one other good spot in ironforge, that cove lake thingy, try the sleeping trick again i guess. On my server, the alliance refuse to give a fisherman a break though, and i have lumps from 5 different alliance toons on my head to prove it... hate getting pwned by 5 toons lol, but what do you expect i guess, this is just a game and i am in their city lol

    in short, no more fishing in lava

    Lol. Yeah. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know all these nifty tricks when I got my Old Ironjaw. Took me 2832 casts to catch him. The one that I discovered later was the instance trick. Queue up with a buddy, and don't leave party after you run through the instance. Then you can simply teleport to the dungeon whenever you have some player agro.

    I fished for like 18 hours, getting pwned, and frustrated and I'd log out. On my server, It's alliance heavy, and they didn't much like me fishing there. Not to mention my close friends in vent all had level 80 alliance toons.... And they thought it was FREAKING HILARIOUS to swoop in and pwn me really fast. Sometimes, they'd just stand on my bobber.... Or they'd roll a noobie alt Gnome, and call themselves a "Crotch Gnome" and just stand at my crotch (I was a blood elf at the time)

    I really did enjoy catching that fish though... I wish there were more rare fish achievements to be honest... It's a thrill fighting off a swarm of people with your fishing pole...

    Sometimes my friends and I would fight there for hours... I'm a lock, and my friend is an Enhance shaman. He has a fetish for pvp. As did I back then. So we'd just fish and fight all day. >.<
