    close to 2000 catches....blew off dailys this weekend....got the 1 ring,sold for 200g...only money i made.....drinking in game and out of game helps a bit.....at work now,going home later to walk dog and then fish in IF......WOOHOO.....IronJaw....woohoo....where are you?

    Just got Old Ironjaw! Took 193 casts, which wasn't too bad at all. I was fairly surprised at how accomodating all the Alliance players were, seen as I'm Horde.

    Now for Old Crafty........

    I got the old crafty on the very first try after the achievement system went live.

    However Ironjaw is proving elusive. I was able to run into Ironforge with only 1 death along the way. Nekkid run = no durability loss but long run from gy. The first hour went without trouble as most players were away exploring WotLK expansion.

    Over 150 fish caught no ironjaw yet. I quietly logged out when a few 50's allies started gathering looking at me. Being PVP server, I didn't wan to find out if they called in a high level ally. I'll be back later to try and fish some more.

    I just caught Old Ironjaw in 23 casts after having spent a VERY long time casting before. The trick was the same as Crafty. I had the quest for the Baby Crocolisk (sp?). I had the Baby Crocolisk in my bag, so you don't have to catch them both in the same cast. :D

    I feel so damn lucky right now.

    On my 258th catch, I find Old Ironjaw. Around 45-50 mins of fishing.

    Using Fishing buddy:
    171 Raw Longjaw mud snapper - 66%
    53 Bristle Whisker catfish - 20%
    31 Brilliant Small fish - 12%
    1 lesser healing potion - 0%
    1 lesser mana potion - 0%

    1 Old Ironjaw

    First post on the site, and I'm not even sure it's in the correct place (sorry if it's not!)

    I have a simple question about fishing for Old Ironjaw.

    Does having a higher skill increase your chance of catching him? Do I need to max fishing and get all the gear, enchants, etc. before going for him, or can I catch him at any skill level?

    Skill is not a factor in your chance to catch any fish.
    If you can fish without any fish "getting away", that's all you need.
    That and lots of time.

    I was in Ironforge fishing for 3 hours this morning until alliance ran me off. No luck!

    Last night I was there for 30 minutes. Two level 80 alliance were fishing, but did not bother me. A 72 gnome eventually came around and killed me twice. I was not wearing armor or weapons, just my fishing hat and pole. Oh well.

    Anyway, overall 3.5 hours and Old Ironjaw did not show up. :-(

    I, too tried today with the Crocs in the City quest -- snuck into IF and fished just over 200 casts before I decided to give up for today. No Ironjaw yet, but I'm reading some promising things, so perhaps next time I have the Crocs in the City daily and try again I'll be luckier.

    I just fished Ironforge for 8hrs....straight. WITH the Crocs in the City Fishing daily.

    Skilled up from 375 fishing....to 450.

    And nothing. Not happy.

    Once I hit 80 (2 more lvls) I'll knuckle down and try for ironjaw over the holidays. I'll try before all the kiddies are out and think im the grinch sneaking into IF to steal their winterveil gifts

    Decided to take advantage of the holiday spirit, so dressed in the Winter Veil Santa gear and rode into IF at 1:30am Christmas Day. One death on the way, Ally seemed to be nice to start but by 123 fish I'd been ganked 4 times. Annoying. Got the 1 ring though, my Christmas present. Will keep trying for another hour or so today.

    I've joined a Hordefellow some days ago, who stood there for three hours already. I took my pole and prepared myself to have a hard time, like the guy who was there already. When my character was covered in a circle of light on the 14th cast his eyes almost popped out. About 30 minutes later I got a second Ironjaw.

    First post. Just took up fishing yesterday. My husband is a salty ol' fisherpriest, but I've never felt the urge to level... until I found out that damn Sewer Rat is BOP.

    So, I buy a pole and plunk myself down in the Forlorn Cavern... and pull Old Ironjaw on about my 15th cast. My husband almost swallowed his tongue.

    All of which means, of course, that I'll have to cast 10,000 to get my rat when the time comes.

    Oh well. Still, the look on his face was worth it.

    Question about "catch & release"

    By "catch & release" I mean: Turn off auto-loot, cast, catch ... but instead of looting the small brilliant useless fish, just casting again ... only looting when something good turns up ... Like yesterday, I got a 1 Ring.

    Does anyone know if this has any adverse impact on the odds of getting old ironjaw? Would it be better to take all the little fish and then toss them out of my pack? Or does it not make any difference at all?
