    I just got Old Ironjaw last night! I got him over a 2 day period with only 326 casts. I got SO lucky!

    didnt get a catch count, but i do know i was there in a tuxedo for 4 days to catch him, alliance were real nice to me also. 1 ganking from lvl 70's and every other bit trouble i had was from toons around lvl 30-35

    I found it easiest going for him at a low lvl. I was level 40 and it took a lot of determination, but got to the pool after ressing lots. Once there the best thing to do regardless of level is /sleep. Passing alliance give you a bit more of a chance seeing you laying down. Also if you are a hunter use beast mastery. Got him in 1200 casts with little armour on. If you don't get him straight away try 3 hour slots.. that way you don't go crazy from trying too much!

    I spent three hours one night (and two gankings, both Night Elf Warriors) trying to get Ironjaw with no luck.

    Next evening I logged back in, expected more fruitless hours of casting. After greeting my guild, one of them said "good luck with your fishing!"... and I caught it the very next cast.

    this little fishy is proving realy hard to fish up..
    i already got over 2200 catches and still no ironjaw..
    i got 4 green pants(lol!) and a green sword but no ironjaw..
    (my friend got it on 2 chars, 1 did it in 45 min and the other took from 1 to 35 fishing skill when he cought it..)

    gl to every 1 trying to fish this little basterd.

    I have a couple more tips to make this a little easier.

    1. If you are a hunter, Aspect of the Beast makes you untrackable so you won't need any camouflage elixirs.

    2. Get a druid friend from the opposing faction (or one of your own toons if you have two accounts). Have them sit on top of you in bear form and you will all but disappear. Using Baby Spice or some other shrink effect can help, too Have them turn on any titles they have to help hide you. Some players might be a bit perplexed at the sight of a fishing bear but with a little luck, they'll move on without looking too closely. If you don't have a druid friend, an ogre suit from Dire Maul should work just as well.

    I've only had time to do a few hundred casts using this method but I plan to return to Ironforge soon to resume my attempts on Old Ironjaw.

    Believe it or not, I actually caught Old Ironjaw on my SECOND cast ever!!

    I had gone to get the initial fishing training from the trainer in Ironforge, bought the most basic rod (not even the "strong" one), turned around to begin levelling my fishing and bam! I got the achievement. Guildies congratulated me on the hours and hours it must have taken me to catch him but in fact I had only been fishing for a couple seconds with that toon.

    But you know how it goes... I've also spent hours and hours trying it on a different toon and sure enough, nada! So I guess it all evens out in the end.

    Spent 9this time) about 2 hours in the cavern..(mostly rh clicking and ignoring a slew of ID-10-T's in trade chat...but it finally happend !!!

    This in combo with my winter saber tiger mount, the water element pet from higher learning, Mareak is a happy dwarf nower days !!

    Did they ever nerf the lava wheel fishing method? I hope not, considering what a joke it is to fish in orgrimmar on most servers. I went to IF with our raiding guild back when the server was balanced and we held it a couple nights, but the constant crap going on really slowed the actual fishing down.

    Usually a fair number of alliance know about the lava spot, but nobody ever checks unless there was a recent sighting. Best way is to go there on a character, die close enough to rez in the lava, then rez inside the wheel and log out at the spot to come back after the ADHD lose interest in a couple zone warning messages.

    Bringing some anti-tracking potions for a long haul is probably overkill, but can't hurt.

    Hey Anglers! Just got into IF at 4am, No deaths at all as yet!! Had to put my computer on mute because everytime the periodic lame cheesy Ironforge music kicks in I can't stop laughing! - Expecting incoming gankfest but hopeful today's Alliance will be gentle with me. 260 Casts and nothing unusual bar a bloated snapper that coughed up a malachite. Loving that you can still read your faction's tradechat even in Alliance cities! Maybe I can order in a pizza!

    Sigh, after catching crafty in 1074 catches in the hostile ogrimmar...I catch ironjaw in 82 casts haha. I love fishing XD

    Guildies started going after fishing achieves, so I did as well, went after Ironjaw first.
    Two days, 495 fishing (max + Arcanite Fishing Pole w/ +5 Line), sometimes used a fishing hook or worm for 595 skill. Stayed within the Cavern. Actually had neat bags so I kept track of my stats.

    263 - Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper
    93 - Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish
    66 - Raw Brilliant Smallfish
    1 - 19 Pound Catfish
    1 - 22 Pound Catfish
    1 - Old Ironjaw
    Too Many - Missed catches due to distractions

    425 Successful casts, two days of hours of casting. And now, I shall seek out Crafty...

    I decided to go for Old Ironjaw for the first time today. With my lvl 75 BElf Hunter, I used the recommended path through the front entrance. After several corpse walks, I made it to the back of the pool and lay down. Luckily, since it was the middle of the night, there were no Alliance players around. Here are my stats:

    Time: 24min (3:12 Server Time)
    Casts: 80
    Starting Skill Lvl: 280
    Rod: Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole (+25)
    Lures: Bright Baubles (+75) x3
    Loot: Longjaw Mud Snapper x53
    Bristle Whisker Catfish x13
    Brilliant Smallfish x12
    19 Pound Catfish x1
    Old Ironjaw: x1 :D
    Ending Skill Lvl: 295

    All in all, a productive night. I think I'll go make some attempts at Old Crafty before I turn in. Best of luck!

    I caught him last night after fishing for about 40 minutes. Alliance turned up a couple of times but I just logged and returned after a cuppa - after all, I came to fish not fight ;)

    Flew sraight in through the main gates and picked up a trail of guards, lol. I did die once, but made it all the way to the cavern before that happened, so when I res'd I was fine.

    Caught at 3:30am with the Bone Fishing Pole.
