1852 fishes in IF/Orgrimmar to catch both fishes. Even though statisticly I was lucky (should have fished more than 2000 to get both), I dont think droprates has been changed, sadly enough.
I'm hoping they do something about the salty achievement as the fact above didnt exactly encourage me to go for the "One that didn't get away" achievement.
Approximately 4800 fish out of Stonebull Lake and I finally got it! I hope you all have better luck than me.
I got mine 2 mins ago at Stonebull Lake. I've been fishing for about 30 mins before work for about a weeks time now! Pretty happy. :)

At 521 fish I caught the 15-Pounder. Yep, 20 casts.
Either I got EXTREMELY lucky or Blizzard upped the drop rate.

donquixote235 i had the same thing the followering days... did the 1k fish and though. hmm why not try the Rare one... so went here to find that Stonebull lake was a nice spot, so as i packed my orc and moved there for a long fishing trip, i got pretty surprised like on 10 catch i got the 10 pound and 20 cast i got the 15 pound mud snapper.. Either the Upped the rater ( Like Halloween Pet / Helmet now in bags / and Deathcharger From rivendare is set to 1 - 100 drop chance ) so seems they are making alot of the every day farming ALOT easyer.. so all can get ahcivements... Next thing is to see if im right about Zg mounts since we had 3 dropping ( raptors) recently after 3.0.2 if those are buffed 2 in drop rate

Working on a Bay of Storms (Azshara) dataset atm; I have a sneaking suspicion that while there may be 2 potential catches at Bay of Storms, their odds of dropping are less due to the larger amount of potential other stuff you can catch on the Bay's loot table.
After about 2500 catches in Azshara, I decided to try Stonebull Lake. I don't know anyone that has confirmed catching one of the rare fish in Azshara after the patch. I knew a few people that had gotten it at Stonebull. There also seems to be more people here successful at Stonebull.
It only took 1300 catches to get the 15 pounder at Stonebull. I would recommend everyone to fish at Stonebull or their equivalent starting area lake.
Now to work on Old Crafty and Ironjaw. So far 250 casts and no luck on Crafty. It's also harder because of all the player ghouls around town infecting me.
Caught Rockhide Strongfish before the patch in STV and asked GM today , why achievment didn't trigger:

I caught the 15 pounder and old crafty yesterday. All within about 15 casts of eachother too, lol.

I believed they were going to do this but didn't want to wait the few months it takes for them to put it in the game. I caught the rare Strongfish the Sunday before the patch. I'm still waiting on getting the last fishing daily. Once I have that, I'm all ready for Wrath to get the fishing title.
Well, I fished in Bay of Storms for a while:

I would have stayed and built up more of a sample size but I got called away from fishing to do a HH run, and decided to do my put out the fire daily after that. We failed the first fire, so I ran over to Crystal Lake to toss a few lines before the horseman showed up again. First cast = 15 lb. mud snapper. Unbelievable.
Honestly, you might be able to catch 2 of the rares in Bay of Storms but it looks like the offhand rate is FAR lower in BoS than it is at the newbie pools for the mud snappers. In 200 casts at Crystal Lake I had already fished 2 offhands. My recommendation is to just fish at the newbie lakes. Good luck to all you anglers!

Yes, a GM told me that not an hour ago. So I guess it's fishing up 39 000 longjaw mud snappers in order to get the 15 pounder that'll do the trick. Pity though... Had that Rockhide fish in my bank for a year and a half.
Oh, and thanks for an awesome site. Been fishing in wow since the release but I can always learn something new here. Keep up the good work.
Hi hello, thought I'd post a set of small data on my fishing luck past few days.
Been fishing in Azshara at the Bay of Storms.
Total catches roughly 3200 so far.
3x '7 pound lobster'
3x '9 pound lobster'
2x '12 pound lobster'
3x '15 pound lobster'
1x '19 pound lobster'
1x '70 pound mightfish'
Planning to keep going with Bay of Storms regardless of the possible better rates elsewhere, since getting that achievement by the biggest fish available (103 pounds, yeah!) is just my way of doing things. Obviously I might get unlucky and get the lobster first but hey, there's always that swordfish in Northrend to get later on... ;)
After several days of fishing when I wasn't raiding or being dragged along to fight the Headless Horseman, I caught my 15 pound Mud Snapper.

I had a stalker named Phoenixmgn who kept following me around, fishing on top of me even though I told him I was hard of hearing and couldnt hear bobber splash.
