[Fishing] Patch 3.1 made fishing bad?

    well i'm just a fisherman who fish when i'm free.. but.. i have a HUGE problem.. i'm only at 200+ fishing and i can't do the fishing dailys cuz i keep catching junk... ma y be that's nto a big problem.. i have problem leveling my fishing.. my skill is suitable for STV but it's too hard to rank up. when i first heard that we can now fish anywhere i was like WOO time to get COIN MASTER but then... when i try to fish at fountain.. it full of junks and no coins..
    well i'm kinda losing interest in fishing

    What happened with the patch is that instaid of getting 'Your to low to fish here' messages you now catch junk items.

    The criteria otherwise apples as before the patch, you still need to be of a particular level for a particular body of water to catch the good, non junk, stuff.

    i guess "fishing is bad?" depends on how much of a purist you are. i feel that fishing has been completely ruined. the quest rods have for the most part all been made equal. even the big iron pole is +20. you can fish any water and even the junk gives u skill up. for grins i took my wife's druid (skill=187) and caught the bloated Monsterbelly on 4th cast. essentially there is no skill to fishing any longer, it's been reduced to "no misses" so that you can actually calculate how many casts it will take you to reach 450. Blizz seems intent on structuring the game to accomodate easy leveling and that includes fishing. have fun!

    I think, like many other aspects of the game, blizzard is looking to accommodate everyone with parts of their game. I would imagine that fishing was fairly unpopular in TBC, so they wanted to lower the grindfest that it can become in order to get more people doing it.

    Yeah, it makes our semi-exclusive club less exclusive, but it's not so bad. I wish they would have kept the fishing zone requirements instead of allowing ppl to skill up anywhere, but w/e. Not like you get an error message IRL when you try to fish a pond. =)

    Blizz added the epic stormjewels. that means that uber raiding guilds will expect folks to obtain the gems. that means that fishing was made rather easy.

    it is a huge change to go do a fishing daily quest and see many many other players fishing the same spot.

    on the other hand, it is nice to go to an ulduar raid and have 2 or 3 folks vieing to get their fish feasts deployed first.
