I'm curious to know if there is any correlation between physical and virtual world anglers. In the US, just over 10% of the population go fishing (nearly 40 million people) - a remarkably popular activity.
Personally, I've never caught a real fish, although I did try once: My line got tangled round a tree, at which point I decided to leave it to the experts.
I do, but pretty infrequently. My father used to take me a bit when I was a kid - often when camping or hiking, we'd catch trout and cook it up.
I think the last time I did was a few summers ago, with my wife and father-in-law, who does enjoy many such activities. Still have polls and such from it.
I used to fish. A lot!
Grew up on the coast of Oregon where stream fishing for cutthroat trout was an art. Fished in Idaho, Virginia and random other places but haven't fished in years. Still have all my stuff, though!
Maybe when I retire, I'll blow the dust off those old poles. Or sell them to an antique dealer...
Fish a lot during the summertime. Have done so for 20+ years already.
My buddy and I go fishing a bit in the spring-fall here in North Carolina. It's our way of gettting away and relaxing...

I am fairly new to the game, and brand new to the forum.
Not new to fishing however!
I am 48 years old and fishing is my passion. I grew up flyfishing in Montana, and have a winter home in Florida.
I have traveled to world, and I fish everywhere I go. 9 years in the US Navy and since become a worldwide consultant. I have fished Oceans, rivers, streams and lakes, from Lake Titicaca in Bolivia to Northern Canada and even in the Artctic Circle. Where I go, my fishing gear goes!
I hear they have a lot of gankers in Bolivia...

I haven't fished much, but I do fish on the rare occasion.
On a recent trip to Miami we went sailfishing and I caught a 61" sailfish!
