[General] Realm First 450 Fishing

    Nettuni was the first to hit 450 on Malorne. We got back late from them Lunar Fest and she fell asleep. She woke around noon and at about 3pm, cst, she got the title. I was shocked no one had tried for it in that twelve hour window.

    I was the first to reach 450 Fishing on Nazjatar a little after 1:00 PM Central on 11-13-08.

    My game was up and running at about 9:00 AM. I was parked right at the Undercity gate. As I stood waiting for the blimp I was conversing with a couple people about the world firsts and said that I should try and shoot for fishing because no one was probably going for it. I was joking at the time but when I finally got to Northrend and saw the grandmaster fishing trainer standing right there on the dock, I said, "I'm gonna do it".

    I was really hoping that if someone else was going to get it that they would get it quickly so I didn't waste my time grinding it all out in one sitting like that. I was lucky enough to converse with a guy going for server first mining and he told me that he had been online since before midnight and he hadn't witnessed the server first fishing. That bolstered my confidence. Once I hit 430 I started to allow my self to think that I had it. At 440 I got pretty excited. At 449 I really started to worry about if I was really the first one or not. It was a real rush when I hit 450 and got flooded with whispers. Someone who had run past me during the process said to me, "I knew you would get it!"

    After four hours and several bags of fish, I got the realm first. As a casual player, I feel good that I could do something like this and no matter what, I will always be the first fisherman to 450 on Nazjatar. I really wish a title was involved with the server firsts. First Fisherman Yepe has a nice ring to it! =D (from what I'm reading in this thread, 4-4.5 hours is a pretty consistent time frame for leveling from 375)

    As an aside, I witnessed the server first herbalist about ten minutes after I started fishing.

    Hmm odd situations, indeed. I posted a reply earlier in this topic and I now have pretty much confirmed there was a Horde character on my server who got the feat of strength before me. Also in my case it didn't appear to be announced server-wide, only in guild and possibly some other channels.

    EDIT: The time between our two announcements, according to those who saw the horde's announcement. was over 12 hours.

    Ahhhh.....now im positive it was announced for me server wide cause i got whispers from strangers and friends who were not in guild.....

    I also managed to get the realm-first for Argent Dawn, despite starting late. I don't think anyone really thought about doing it on my server or else I wouldn't have pulled it off. Congratulations to all others that managed to get it for their servers and comforts for those that were beaten to the punch. It's great to see so many others that enjoy fishing so much that they set aside the rush into Northrend to do something that most consider rather silly.

    I got Realm First Fishing on Frostwolf, around 5:45 am (PST). Lots of Smoked Salmon to help with levelling too, and the suckerfish and other stuff is selling decently on the AH.

    I was hoping for Realm First on Gul'dan and ended up getting it. Not sure if anyone else was going for it (certainly no one else fishing in Valgarde). It's a mid to low pop realm so it's not impossible that I was alone in this competition. Pre-release I had made all my preparations though: logged off on the docks at Menethil Harbor with my fishing gear on and my bags empty and went to catch the midnight release. I'm on mountain time, so it was a little disheartening to think that everyone on the east coast had a 2 hour head start, especially since EU servers were already getting server first fishing before I even got in line for the game! But traveling across the ocean to better my odds was out of my budget. I doubt it'd happen, but it seems like if Blizzard is going to introduce server first accomplishments that take place in a matter of hours then they ought to have a world-wide simultaneous release.

    That said, they've given out titles for less. It would be nice to have "Grandmaster Angler Westin" above my head.

    I started at around 1:15 and ended at 5:30, which seems about average for most people who got it. When I got it, it appeared in my chat log twice. Could be Realm First and Faction First? That could explain the multiple winners reported for some realms.

    i was try'n for the realm first on Thrall... but being central time... and my gamestop suck'n pretty bad... i was 2.5hours behind all my other guildies play'n WotLK. they all knew i was going for it... and 3 hours into it (since i had been on) a human mage got it. i said gratz, and i got sad faces from my guildies. but instead of calling it a night i kept fishing, to finish it out. (i was at 434/450) it took me about another hour and i did it. and it was announced to me (and at least my guild) that i got the realm first.

    not sure if it was a bug, a window of time, or what, but i got it too. i got no wispers from others, so as it was said earlier, it might not have been server wide broadcast. i know i wasnt truely the first but its nice to have the FoS anyways.

    I talked to a GM about how it's possible for more than 1 person to get the feat of strength. He said it was a bug and that they are currently fixing it.

    Not true Apraxia, I'm also on Kilrogg -Alliance. I really want the Salty title but I'm in no real rush to get it. I still need to win the fishing extravaganza though, working Sundays sorta screws this over.

    i was the first on blackrock to get 450 and i also achieved the salty title, i have yet to see anybody else with it.

    I got pipped to it at about 1:30 am my time on Wednesday night (servers came up 9pm local time for me due to the servers going live at midnight Russian time). Was at 441 when a Horde got the FoS. I didn't actually get online until 9:30 so perhaps I might have made it if I'd realised the servers were up at 9.

    I set my hearth for Undercity and parked myself on the zeppelin tower at about 11:30pm, and then drove to Gamestop to pick up my expansion. I got home at about 12:30, installed the xp, and then logged into the game and went to Howling Fjord, got the book, and then hearthed to UC. I chose UC because the innkeeper is directly above the little sewage canal, so I could start fishing immediately after hearthing.

    Once I hit 375 fishing I went out to Howling Fjord, since I had enough +fish buffs that I could fish out there with no getaways at that point. At 5:17am server time (4:17 local time) I got the realm first, after 3 hours and 47 minutes of fishing. Fishing Buddy lived up to its name, as I probably would have added an extra 20 minutes or so if I couldn't just double-right-click my way through it.

    After I got the realm first and the obligatory grats-whisper-spam-wall (which was an awesome feeling btw) I ran to a cooking fire and cooked up about a billion fish, until all my Northrend fishing recipes were gray. I kept a couple of stacks for myself and auctioned the rest of the fish for about 35g a stack (at least for the manta rays and such; the rest I just vendored since it was straight non-buff heal food that you could buy from a vendor).

    I got realm first on Genjuros-EU at 5:04am :-)
    I prepared well with a lot of fishing hooks from the fishing daily and Rumsey's lager, because I wanted to go immediately to Dalaran, to get some casts in the sewers. So when I logged in, I immediately dashed for Dalaran; little did I know... so there I am on the map where Dalaran is supposed to be, and I don't see it? Where is it? It should be here somewhere, come on it's supposed to be this huge city!
    Then I turn the camera upwards....

    ... ok, so I wasted a lot of time just looking for a place I couldn't go to... Then I just stayed there and fished there for a bit. After an hour I moved south to Indu'le lake and got my achievement there :-)

    Two days ago I also got the cooking realm first ^_^

    Someone mentioned an hour timeframe on completing a Feat of Strength after another persone, which is wrong. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9233135174&pageNo=1&sid=2000#4 states that there's a 1 minute timer, which seem to be mainly intended for raiders.

    On topic, I never had a chance at realm firsts due to not getting my game until 3 days had passed WotLK. =/

    Been doing good progress on levelling though. From 3.5ish days actually played I've maxed fishing, passed level 76 and finally got a Mr. Pinchy (figured I had to since it's included in the fishing achievement).

    I got the realm first on US Madoran at about 5:00AM.

    Seeing the stream of "grats!" and other whispers when you get it is kind of a rush. Wish I could have replied to all, but there was at least a few hundred that whipsered. I'm really thankful I did it first. I really wanted it.
