Anybody else ever lose a rare fish by recasting when the BoP confirm dialogue comes up? I just lost my second one and I have to admit I'm a little annoyed. Is there any way to avoid this short of being more careful? Please tell me there is a way to either turn off that confirm, or to keep it from being cancelled when you recast...

Not that I'm aware of. It's been like that for a long time.
I remember back when fishing add-ons did autocast, you had to be especially careful.
I guess I've been lucky that I've never lost a fish that way. What are you using to re-cast?
I bind Shift-Z to cast Fishing.
I always hold down the shift key when I loot so it's easy to tap the Z key right next to it to re-cast. -

I have always remembered fishing working that way, where if you recast, you lose the good loot because of the dumb dialog box.
I had hoped that, with the change in 2.4 to looting, if you were the only person that could loot the fish, the dialog would no longer come up. However, my priest was lucky enough to catch "Old Crafty" on the test server a week ago, and the dialog box still came up. I'm hoping that one of the more recent pushes would fix this, but I'm very skeptical.
I've been lucky enough to have not lost a fish due to the dialog box yet, and I think that's because I'm primarily an auditory fisher. The dialog box makes a stern clank noise when it comes up, and it surprises me enough that I don't immediately recast. Maybe this would help you, too?

I put the fishing cast on my action bar so I just push 1 to recast immediately after I've pulled in a fish. Since I have auto-loot on I'm able to do it quite quickly which improves my catch rates nicely, but seemingly at the great risk of losing those rare fish.
I'm really surprised that this isn't an issue for more people since I'm sure plenty of people use auto-loot to speed up their fishing and when you are fishing for long periods of time you get into such a rhythm that it's virtually impossible to constantly be on the alert for a rare fish, especially since it happens so infrequently.
I also fish with the sound effects on as that enables you to not have to watch the screen as closely, but I've come to be so quick on the recast that both the noise and the visual of the dialogue box coming up don't register until just after I've hit the recast button...
I guess the only solution is to slow down, although I find it a bit preposterous that Blizzard couldn't simply fix this little issue by either not allowing you to recast when the dialogue box comes up or at least causing it to confirm rather than cancel the loot...
Is there anybody in particular at Blizzard that I could contact about this issue? The in-game ticket system didn't seem to be the appropriate place...
