[Fishing] 'Safe' fishing spots in Wintergrasp

  1. Gizel <Salty>, 4 years ago:

I've been looking for several spots in WG and came with a top 5 spots for the horde:

    -West Workshop Graveyard (Horde control)
-Blinked (while swimming) into iceberg (Mage only, biggest spot is under the central bridge on the northren side)
    -West Workshop Graveyard (Alliance control)
-Warsong Camp (Horde control, near flightmaster)
-On the arches under the West Bridge

Nice one , could you mark out some of these spots on a map?

I Avoid all wintergrasp battles so I have no clue at all how things work in that zone.

I just tried the arches under the west bridge after reading this.

600 casts without anybody seeing me, let alone killing me. Definatly one of the safer spots to enjoy fishing without a pesky death knight smashing your face in.

Just been in there for the first time - I tried one spot in se corner - there is a glacial lake - I was ok for quite a while hidden mostly by a tree next to the falls, then some passing DK teleported my to the spirit healer.
I also fished next to the horde flightpoint - and fished safely until I left - although I have seen battles around this area before.

oh - and apart from the fish feast - the fish are also great for the 425-450 grind if you want to go the small feasts route. (currently working on my 3rd chef).

Fish near your flight point when your faction is NOT in control of Wintergrasp and the NPC quest givers - who have significantly more health than you do - will be around. If you run into trouble, run towards the flight point and let the NPCs beat on the opposing faction member.

Fished at the top of the waterfall (Scholazar Basin border) for Fishing daily. Not fished the area extensively but did venture further into the zone only to be sprung by an Alliance guy hiding in the water after aggroing a mob. Needless to say I had rez sickness so he didnt benefit from my kill ;P

Anyone on a PvP server understands the fallacy of thinking they were in a "safe" fishing spot.

As an alliance character, I've been attacked while fishing for the croc in Stormwind (my pvp flag timer was still at 4 mins, had just come in the portal from shatt after accepting the quest).

Wintergrasp is just another place to fish. Fishing in Wintergrasp is slightly less troublesome (when a battle for wintergrasp is not ongoing) than fishing in Sholozar Basin or the lake in Dragonblight.

Fortunately the unwritten 'If you're fishing, you're offlimits' rule seems to be working on my server for WG fishing.
I was happily standing at Glacial falls for the Terrorfish alongside 3 horde anglers the other evening, and emotes, rather than blows were exchanged.
Don't know if it helps that myself and one of the Horde were sporting the Salty title, but I /bowed and /smiled graciously when I left, pleased to have completed the daily unhindered :)
Hope it keeps up like this between our noble angling community :)

Thought Id give my new spot out to others who dont want to get ganked when they are just trying to fish for the daily. Theres a waterfall at the north of icemist village. Fly to the top and land on the large slab rock. Go forward a bit (hopefully not to get flagged) you will be looking at the Eastpark Vehicle workshop. It may take a couple times to find the right spot but your bobber will sometimes be in the rock but you can still fish up when you catch something. Oh and its so nice when you hear fighting and see the Horde is winning.

I wish that were so ...

I've had a couple of characters who did fishing dailies starting from level 70 who never got ganked in WG, however lately, there have been a tag team group of belftards who camp the lake near the Alliance camp (where everyone goes for the daily). Always belfs, rogue, pally and dk. Sigh.

After being killed numerous times fishing near the flightpath, I've always gone under the Western bridge. I sit on one of the braces under the bridge ... in my fishing attire (practically no protection since I go for the "barefoot dwarf with cheek of tan" look) and I USUALLY am left alone. I've often fished with hordish fisherpersons in peace. Only once was I ganked in that spot.

I have been fishing from river ice directly next to the south wall of the East Park Vehicle Park - there is a small nook on the SE corner of the building where the wall extends below the waterline. Great little corner. It is a difficult place for opposing faction players to attack. A frontal assault is difficult because it is all water. The angle above, from the workshop is too steep for ranged weapons.

From the south side of the building, your only real problem comes from miners seeking out veins of mineral. They travel so fast, they typically pass by the time you res in.

Check it out and see what you think!

This may have been mentioned in previous posts, I'm not sure I may have just missed the location but if you're fishing when you get the notice to que up and you decline you get teleported to a very small pond between waterfalls just above Sholazar. I've had good luck there most of the time. Don't know how long it'll last though.

Also as a Warlock I've tried another method that's a bit of a taunt probably. There's one lake where there are no water elementals so I drag out my succubus and set her to aggressive to act as a first alarm. I set my demonic teleport as far away as I can, underneath one of the floating ice sheets. Then I use a water walking potion to stand as far away from any shoreline as possible. I figure at the least an enemy will have to drop into the water to attack me and hopefully I'll have enough warning to teleport and switch back to my DPS set. I think at least doing this I might stand a chance. Obviously this is only for Locks tho.

I agree on the Bridge arches and the small cliff top waterfall overlooking SB. I don't seem to be harassed at either location.

Additionally I wear a fishing outfit, hat overalls (Mechbuilders) etc so often I see Horde check me out then move on, or flit down and join in getting their daily too.

Should someone prove hostile at the Waterfall location, a couple of trap trinkets and engineer boosters help me fly off the waterfall and parachute into SB. (I like base jumping, try it off the Violet Tower over Dalaran sometime) It's nice to vault off into the horizon blasting flames in their face. :D

For those of you with map coords, 12.7, 40.4 in Dragonblight. There will sometimes be an elemental there, so not a good location for low levels.
