Took me 274 catches to catch this little guy.

Took me 617 casts on my main with 640 fishing skill.
Took me 3 casts on an alt with 382 fishing skill.
Both catches were in open water near the boardwalk.~60 casts for me! But then again, it took me a few thousands of casts to get the turtle mount, so I guess things even out!
Fished my Steelscale Crushfish on my 23rd cast on open water on the DM Island.
On my 83rd cast got my Sea Pony!!! So happy!

Got it! Velen server. 467 total casts, spread out through a Saturday. Mostly open water near but not at the boardwalk beach (62.1 81.4). Same distribution of catches as other posts. Fishing at the beach was a pain. People running in front of you, sometimes stopping. People stopping right next to you to fish etc. etc.

I just got back to the game about 1 month ago after being gone from the game for about 2yrs, i ended up missing the first darkmoon fair to be around since i got back so when it showed up again last night at midnight i was ever so excited to go down and catch my sea pony. Well i spent a total time of 45 minuted trying to catch this thing, however after so long trying to catch it i was ecstatic to finally catch it. I fished open water at the end of the boardwalk ramp. I however lost count somewhere around 30 minutes in as to how many casts it took. But it was rather frustrating after seeing two ppl roll up next to me fish for five minutes each and catch it T_T overall just happy i have it now :)

I was shocked to find that after my 5th cast, I caught the pony - I had been planning to settle down in the cove after the fishing quest, and caught it WHILE DOING the quest! Hoping to get this kind of luck with my other toons. To others still looking for the pet, good luck and happy fishing!

I have made over 50,000 casts for the turtle and nothing still. Yet I catch this on the first cast.

Similar experience to seaborn, countless casts with no joy on the turtle, 1st or second cast (not even knowing there was a new pet) for this guy.

Took about 250 cast over a two day period. fished off the beach just past the float a little past some rocks. You can't hear the sound of the hammering from the pier. I also managed to fish up 2 messages in bottles and it is a spawning point for floating wreckage.
I would also like to add that you can fish up the Sea Turtle from the shipwreck debris pools at the DM Island. I recently caught one on an alt from the same debris pool as the Sea Pony.
