[Contests] STV contest victory inquiry

    so i won the contest a few days ago, I had a damn good run, I didn't get ganked once, I had a steady stream of tastyfish schools spawn near me. From about 35 fish onwards I started shaking, and when I won, I was shaking so badly that I had to go take a nice hot shower to calm my nerves. My question is, is the shaking a normal thing or am i just a super concentrated nerd who enjoyed the victory too much?

    Haha! Well, speaking for myself, I got pretty worked up during the contest... I participated for 3 months, so with every week that I lost, I was feeling more and more anxious as I neared victory.

    The week before I won, I actually caught 40 fish and started to hearth back to BB. I was a nervous wreck... Even knowing that this was just a stupid fishing contest in a videogame. 3 months of doing it every Sunday is a good time investment...

    The week I won it, I was actually super-calm. I guess after losing a few inches in front of the quest giver had convinced me there was no point in getting worked up over it. I barely got excited as I started to hearth (although it seemed to take longer than usual.) When I won it, my guildies on Vent exclaimed that they'd thought I lost because I was so quiet.

    So yeah... It's something to get worked up about, alright. 1 winner every week, and you can lose it at any moment. It's not like you can build up a lead and relax... Every second counts.

    No wonder I wanna go back. :)

    LOL! When I'm close to winning my hands start to shake! Haha. By the time I hearth and am in BB I have a hard time turning in the quest cause my mouse hand is shaking so bad! The first time I won I was pretty close to losing cause of it too! LOL! So ya... you two definitely aren't the only ones. :D :P

    I won the contest a couple months before the expansion (2 weeks in a row, actually), and both times as I hit around 38 fish, I got really shaky. I was surprised both times, but especially the 2nd time as I'd already won once.

    I think it's just the adrenalin rush that does it.

    And I can't imagine trying to win the contest now, with the increased competition. I go sometimes since I still haven't caught the boots fish yet, but never try to win.

    All three times I've won (across 2 characters), my hands were shaking. I can't say if it's healthy, but I can certainly say it's normal.

    I haven't won yet, but I agree with the others in that when I get very close, I get VERY excited and nervy. My hands don't shake, but my heart pounds so hard and heavy and I breathe quicker. I guess the excitement manifests differently for all of us but I'd say it's perfectly normal to get all those nervous/excited things like sweaty/shaking hands and so on.

    I ended up needing a break the other day after completing Rapid Defense achievement. I was weak at the knees from the excitement and my voice was shaking as I was telling my housemate about it. hehe

    I get shaky every single time I get near victory, too.
    I've not won it yet, nor do I actually have the boots. I want to continue on fishing after the contest and every time I plan to do so, but I simply have to take a break from my computer and do something else for a while to get my nerves back after losing...

    This week, after finally catching my Herring, though, I've gotta win! Thirty-ought minutes to go, wish me luck!

    It's definitely normal. The time I won, I wasn't really thinking I had a chance, so I started off nonchalant. By the time I only had 3 fish to go, I was afraid I would lose for not being able to hold my cursor on the bobber.

    Also, I can't PVP for shit, so I get the shakies virtually every time I get jacked because I don't know what I'm doing and almost always end up dying.

    Rofl,and there was me thinking only I got that worked up about the comp!
    I'm just the same on the pvp front,fortunately I've got VanasKoS,which helps me to at least run away from regular hit squads (well,or die trying ;)),and although I've been doing the comp for months on end each and every sunday,I still get the pounding heart and shakes when I get close to the magic 40.
    If I don't win this damn thing soon,I'm going to need medication,and if...no ...WHEN ( grr think positive woman) you'll probably hear me screaming from the rooftops :D

    Same for me! I started out really calm thinking there was no way I was going to win. Then as time went by and no winner was announced I started getting nervous and shaky. When I had 35-40 fish I just couldn't believe that nobody had won yet and my hands were totally shaky. But sadly, I ported back to BB, and right as I was walking up to the guy a winner was announced. So I was about 5 seconds too late and was sooooo sad. Then the next week I was over confident and thought I might actually be able to win it, but wasn't even close. There's always next time! I will keep at it until I win it!

    Same thing here, shaked so badly the first time and my computer was so laggy I saw another player running there and was actually bouncing on the chair, but I got to it befor him :P

    Hehe I did the contest for the first time ever today and I won xD The person who fished beside me hearthed at the same time as me, though i think my computer loaded faster so i won ;D
