[Contests] Twinks Gone Wild

    Rant incoming ...

I'm trying to round off the fishing skill and gear for several alts in anticipation of the expansion, and am struggling with the STV Fishing Competition. The problem is the Twink/Minder population.

I think there are more Twinks than genuine competitors on my server these days, who can't use the Grand Prizes even if they were to win the event. They squat on Yo'jamba Island to save themselves from being eaten by crocs, or follow anyone whom they think might be using fishing radar. Their minders mill around, stepping in front of competitors, or worse still, jumping up and down in front of them in an attempt to scupper their strikes and casts. (I actually had to report someone for this.)

Now, if the Twinks were there from start to finish in a genuine, dedicated effort to get their hats and boots, I could be more forgiving, but the chat in General suggests that boredom overtakes them at just about the time John Mithril throws his excess booty into the Arena. Soooo ... why can't they wait until AFTER the fishing competition has been won, when the real contenders have left, and there is still about an hour and half to pull up Tasty Fish?

I know I'm preaching to entirely the wrong audience, but does anyone have any suggestions that might not lead to brawling on the beaches?

I wish I could provide more helpful advice but when I was doing the STV contest regularly I just tried to keep myself as far as possible from the twinks. Usually they would go in one direction so I would head in the other one.

    Thanks for the reply, Frizzlebrix.

I think I was particularly crochety last weekend as I had an extremely good start to the comp and then sabotaged myself by riding too far out of the way to escape the twinks. I guess there's nothing for it but to grit teeth and bear it ;)

This happened to me this past Sunday. I wound up putting away my pole, jumping up and down in front of the twink's bobber, and emoting /NO to the minder. He stopped after that.

Later I had a minder herding three (!) twinks down the coast. Since four to a pool is not even worth fishing, I just mounted up and moved down the coast a healthy amount.
