Ok. So it took me forever to get the Dark Herring. But after a few weeks of blood sweat and tears I was able to do it. That finished off my salty achievement. So with that done and said I only have four more achievements to get. I need to fish up 'Old Crafty', 'Old Ironjaw', the sewer rat, and of course the sea turtle. Can anyone give me any pointers or suggestions as to where I should go from here?

What faction are you? Cause I'm a Blood Elf, and I burned away 2212 casts working on Ironjaw. Took me about 12 hours. Constantly being ganked. It was miserable, but after I caught him, it is the most rewarding useless thing I have XD.

Yes, I am horde and attempted the Ironjaw with another character on a different server. So I am not eager to do that one. Although with some of the tactics some of you fellow anglers provided leads me to believe it's not that bad. As fortune would have it, the Dalaran fishing quest last night was Jewel of the Sewer. So I decided to stay down there and fish up a rat. I say about an hour of full on fishing was able to pull that off. So now I think it's off to Org to find the Crafty one. Then Iron Forge and then eventually I will wrap things up with the sea turtle. 2212 casts huh? Sounds like a good time.

Hmm, some tips on Iron Jaw that I came up with.
First, get some friends to queue for an instance. Once they complete it, have them invite you into the party before they leave party. That'll leave the instance open. Then, by clicking on the icon you can "teleport to dungeon"
If your cooking's up, make tons of "Blackened Worg steaks" or buy some off the AH. This'll let you track humanoids, and give you a heads' up when someone's about to come around the corner. You can learn the dot colors, so you'll know if there's a Hunter coming, and you can get out of there before they put you in combat. Other than hunters, you can just port out of there before anyone else puts you in combat. Beware of Feral kitties.
Stack TONS of stam... I mean Gem all your gear on stam, that way you look like you're a very skilled pvper' I'm a warlock, my normal PvP hp is around 27-28K I like PvP though, full relentless and wrathful honor items. I don't have any rating pieces though. But, I have the Key tanking trinket, so it made my HP even higher, slightly over 30K. Your typical Warlock is only going to have about 19-20K hp. So looking tougher wards off enemies from just rushing at you. It will at least give you a chance to port to the dungeon while they think about attacking you. If a rogue sees you, and judges you might kill him. He may not even mess with you, and you can keep fishing in piece. If he saps you, just teleport out. Wait a few mins, then go back and start fishing. Fighting them will just provoke more attention.

Hints:
Try to fish at odd times , Forlorn cavern isnt traveled much and if you are there when most people sleep the ganking will not be that bad.
Go to the back of the cave and lie down in the water against the wall (you can fish lying down) , sometimes you can make your nametag clip into the rocks making you less visible for enemies :)
For allies its easier , you can hide yourself and nametag inside the waterfall in valley of honor.
I think you can fish betweeen the wall and the hut in the valley of the spirits hiding you from everyone except hunters with tracking on. (Havent checked the last one since i just remembered it)Never fight back if someone still kills you , if they kill you instantly after rescurrecting , log on to another char or take a break , reading , looking at a movie etc. everything to make the enemy bored and go away.

Oh man, those are some great suggestions. I was toying with something like that dungeon idea. I find that if I Q up as tank for an instance that it's almost instant. So I was thinking if I Q up when someone is coming I could get away quick, but I like that tactic better. I will definitely give that a try. I'll keep you updated.

-Got my Salty this morning at around 6:50 am- Now, off to the Sewer rat and Old crafty'
I imagine after I get my Rat and Crafty, I'll start hunting that elusive Darkwood fishing pole, then all the super rare fish for "The One that didn't get away." I'd like to catch them all, and make a bank bag full of them. XD

Gratz on the salty. I caught the sewer rat the other night. Pretty easy actually. I was surprised. Old crafty was a pain in the #?@!. It wasn't as bad as the Dark Herring, but still pretty obnoxious. I was actually sitting in the tree in the upper lake of org when I caught him. About 1200 casts on avg between the two lakes. What makes it even more frustrating was that my GF caught him with a fishing score of 65 on some random cast. Not only that but then she delites the char afterward. GAH! Anyway old crafty was a pain but Ironjaw was easy. Using the lure from the fishing hat as a timer (10 min) I was able to average about 50 fish per lure. I was able to nab him on my 100th cast. That was definitely make up for Old Crafty indeed. Now the only achievement I need is that Sea Turtle. Woot!
