[Contests] Why are people just pigs....??

    the contest has been over for an hr or so, and horde keep killing me.......why? i never kill Horde during the tournament, why is it that pathetic horde alway kill me and my friend when we just fishing??
    BTW they are 70s what use do they have for a hat for twinks......unless they are serious serious fishermen, but even then they would know that kill Alliance is a waste of time.....

    kind of an old thread but a little advice for all you twinks. your gonna have a REALLY tough time winning the tournament. come at 2:20....if i see someone fishing that is an easy kill during the tournament, consider yourself dead. Once a winner is declared, everyone pretty much cools off and you still have over an hour and a half to catch a rare!

    All of this is among the many reasons why I play on PvE servers only. If you choose to play on a PvP server, you're just asking to get ganked.

    If I saw you I'd probably pass by, but if pretty much anyone else in my guild saw you they'd 1 shot you.

    Then if they saw you again, they'd do it again.

    That's life.

    Matter of fact, I was thinking about getting the master kalu'ak fishing pole, just so I could 1 shot twinks as I run by them without having to stop or change poles...

    I'm certain you believe yours to be a "real" server. However, there are people who have absolutely no interest in PvP whatsoever. IMO, if WoW was a real MMORPG (and not just an "FPS wannabe") there wouldn't be any PvP at all.

    I just want to add: I'm not on a PvP server, but MAN did I hate seeing twinks before the contest was won. They were admittedly only after the hat, and they still fought me for my pools. I wish I could have ganked them, and would gladly have done so.

    If I ever roll a twink, I'll wait for the winner to be announced THEN go fishing. I've heard a few twinks comment that the rare quest fish are once per Tournament, though... Which I'm pretty sure is patently false. But they think they have to aggressively fish during the tournament as a result.

    Except both times I won, they didn't "cool off", about 10 horde came in both times and killed me after I won, most likely because I won. Then they turned and fought off the booty bay bruisers...

    But yeah, for the most part the killings decline after a winner is declared.

    Most high level characters, myself included, consider twinks to be a nuisance during the tournament. They tend to fish any pool they come across whether someone is already there or not, and they tend to move in packs. The reward they are looking for was not designed for twinks but rather for fishermen, so there is a tendency to view what they are doing as sort of exploiting in a way.
    On my server avoiding the twinks practically guarantees a win.

    I think I'm missing something here. It was my understanding that a "twink" (in the WoW sense) was a low level toon that was equipped with high powered gear (such as a lvl 19 toon whose gear included pants that had been enhanced with Nethercobra Armor) in order to have an advantage in BG's and Arena battles. If this is what is being referred to, what does any of that have to do with fishing - much less whether or not that toon wins the extravaganza?

    Rare fish that can be caught during Extravaganza do not have level req and provide huge stamina boost. So basically, twinks are fishing for gear.

    They AREN'T fishing to win the extravaganza...they're fishing for gear. But they hinder every person they come across who IS fishing to win the extravaganza. Hence the ire.

    Yeah, I suppose for a lvl 19 these would be considered twink rewards. They ought to raise the fishing level required for STV to 205... and then make Fishing the same as every other profession I can think of - in that, in order to progress past 150 you need to be lvl 20. The number of "got away"'s these so-called twinks (*) would receive even with maxxed out gear and lures would be discouraging to say the least.

    (*) I call lvl 19 twinks "Twinker Toys." Since there's no effort necessary to make them, those who create them must be doing it just for the fun of it.

    A lot of people aren't too fond of twinks. I'm not really going to go into why, as this thread isn't about that.

    The bottom line is that if I see a flagged twink, I'll kill them on sight. And this is coming from somebody who actually makes it a point to avoid killing flagged actual lowbies. I honestly wouldn't even give it a second thought, and there are many others like me.

    If you have a problem with people killing your twinks, you really only have three choices.

    1. Reroll on a PvE server.
    2. Don't leave Stormwind.
    3. Level up and defend yourself.

    As a side note, there is no such thing as a twink reward. Blizzard has stated neutrality on the idea of twinking, meaning that they don't condemn it, but they will also do nothing to foster or encourage it. Nothing in the fishing contest was made for you. Those items were made for fishing. Since you can't defend what you have arbitrarily claimed as your own, I guess they're not yours, are they?

    If you want to know why people want them, look at it this way:
    If you have the +fishing items from the contest, you can fish anywhere with a +75 lure only and avoid getaways. If you don't have _all_ of them, you need a +100 lure. +75 lures can be easily obtained from vendors. +100 are either sold in very limited quantities by the same vendors, gained in small quantities from a daily, or crafted using lowbie mats. +100 lures aren't hard to get, but it requires a lot more effort than simply going to a vendor.
