[Contests] Winning the event!

  1. Siven <Angler>, 1 year ago:

Man, that was about as heart-pounding as fishing gets... Thankfully I was fishing on the ZG island, with little to no interference, so I won in about 20 minutes. That island is awesome, pools keep spawning so you never have to ride very far.

Thanks for all the tricks on the site, definitely helped out.! ^_^

I am unaware of this ZG island trick. Can you link me the thread or describe it to me? Can you catch 40 fish from there?

  3. crimsona <Salty>, 1 year ago:

I just won my first competition today on Ner'zhul (with some assistance from my guild). The ZG island is Yojamba isle, at the top left corner of the map. There was nobody else there today besides myself (and my guild members), and I managed to fish up 32 fish before no more pools spawned. Hearthed to BB, then dashed in cat form to the quest hand in guy, just ahead of another druid

  4. Illuthas <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Just fished on the spot where i normally fish (the coast from BB to the first waterfall to the west) and where i won the first time,i had 40 fish but my hs was on cooldown so i ran to BB like hell and then right in front of my face a priest wins :<

  5. Cozmic <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Do you think it is worth fish on the ZG if you can't get the 40 needed to win? You may waste some valuable time swimming to land.

  6. Idoru <Angler>, 1 year ago:

No need to swim if you do the daily fishing quests : )

  7. Genom <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Well, today was yet another contesnt I didnt win. Wasnt even close as a matter of fact, having gotten 21 fish by the time the winner was anounced.

Maybe this is paranoia on my part, but has anybody noticed if you have the arcanite pole, you seem tot ake longer? For the past 6 months I have been seeing people with big irons clear 2 pools while I clear 1.

ARGH, just frustrated. I won my 1st tourny way back when it first started, and have never even come close since.

  8. Sauce <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Genom, I highly doubt that you take longer for having the best pole in the game..... but to give a word of advice, I wouldn't use the pole in competition. If anyone inspects you they are more likely to follow you around, and we all know that's a pain.

On a related note, I won the competition today. Needless to say I've been psyched all day. Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions (especially El, since I used your strategy).

I lost yesterday - had 37 when it was called.

Had some annoying Gnome fish in *every* pool that I was for 3 quarters of the comp. I just couldn't lose him. Times like that I wish I was on a PvP server :D

I was gonna fish up on Yojamba Isle - but when I got there I saw 3 level 19 toons just milling about - so I left.

Secretsauce, what was the strategy you used?

  10. Illuthas <Salty>, 1 year ago:

In my above post of 7 days ago i said that i just lost cause i didnt have my HS ready,so this time i got there on the spot at like an hour and a half to be sure i didnt make the mistake again,it seems it payed of as i just got my pole <3 (already have trinket) my hands were shaking and i could hardly turn my quest in,i gues everyone has that if they win

I won my fist competition last weekend. The cove just south of Grom'gol base camp, for me, is the best spot to fish. There are loads of spawns all around the cove and with water walking potions its quick and easy to get around, I even had pools spawn on eachother much like mining veins.

ZG island is packed with twinks on ym server as there are no mobs there.

I also won the tournament this weekend, The cove just south of Grom'gol base camp was also the best place for me..

what worked for me is that i walked back and forth in that area, not leaving it..

and the hearthstone was also set..

i wonder if people also try to win without setting their hearthstone.. im a mage so i can portal out of there :P

I won for the first time ever Sunday! I was so excited I actually made myself ill (my tummy hurt with happiness). I had to use every trick that I had studied here and I have to say it finally payed off. So thanks to everyone for all the hints and thank you especially to El for making this wonderful site. I couldn't have done it without you!

  15. Morganna <Salty>, 1 year ago:

Won it for the second time on Sunday! cheers El for all of your tips! Now I am officially retired from the comp as I have everything (well until I take a twink over there :) )
