Minipets and Mounts
Companions and mounts found by fishing - including the Magical Crawdad, 'Bucket Pets', and Sea Turtle. Minipets are not only loyal companions - most can be battled against other pets. Mounts can be ridden. On this page:
Bucket Pets - Chuck's Bucket, Muckbreath's Bucket, Snarly's Bucket, Toothy's Bucket
There are four different "bucket" pets. These pets can only be gained by completing the daily quest, Crocolisks in the City.
Giant Sewer Rat
Keen Dalaran anglers will notice that rats keep falling into the water of the Underbelly, and that something is eating the fish. That something is a Giant Sewer Rat! For full details, read Dalaran Fishing.
The Giant Sewer Rat performs adequately in battle, but not much better than a wide range of other rats - many of which are easier to obtain.
The Pet Journal describes the Land Shark as,
"After birth, newborn sharks quickly flee their hungry mothers. Their early independence makes them dangerous, even while young."
The Land Shark is an Aquatic pet that hovers in a bubble of water, similar to fish pets. The pet is uncommon quality when first learned. Unlike the other items Nat sells, the Land Shark is unbound, so is expected to be tradeable.
Mr. Pinchy is a very rare catch from fishing Highland Mixed School, found in Terokkar Forest's elevated lakes. Pinchy will grant the angler three wishes (one every four hours), before dying. There is a chance of gaining a Magical Crawdad pet, a rare minipet pet (illustrated right). For more a detailed guide to catching Mr. Pinchy, see Catching Mr. Pinchy.
The Magical Crawdad is highly rated in battle, with an interesting mix of healing, damage prevention and high attack abilities.
The Sea Calf is an Aquatic battle pet with some notable non-Aquatic abilities: It can Feed to heal itself for 100% of the damage dealt, and Bubble to block 2 attacks. It is petite (even by gnome standards) and yawns a lot when idle.
The Sea Pony cannot be mounted - not even by a gnome!
In battle, the Sea Pony has a moderately strong mix of Aquatic abilities, many shared with a range of other Aquatic battle pets.
A very rare Sea Turtle can be caught from Northrend, Cataclysm-level and Pandaria pools. Can also be rarely looted from Cavedwellers, summoned from your Garrison's waters with a level 3 Fishing Shack. This turtle can be mounted, and ridden. Over water the Sea Turtle gives a 60% increase in speed. It runs at normal speed on land. For detailed catch strategies, read Catching the Sea Turtle Mount.
- Teaches: Summon a Strand Crawler minipet/companion
- Rare reward from Northrend Daily Fishing Quests' Bag of Fishing Treasures, Azeroth Daily Fishing Quests' Bag of Shiny Things, Garrison Fishing Shack daily's Pack of Fishing Supplies, or potentially looted from Cavedwellers (binds when found, but can be caged and resold once learned)

The Strand Crawler performs reasonably in battle, but no better than most other Aquatic crabs - most of which are easier to obtain.
Tiny Carp - Tiny Blue Carp, Tiny Green Carp, Tiny Red Carp, Tiny White Carp
Typically one of the 4 Tiny Carp is possible to catch from any one pool or area of open water in Pandaria. However there are quirks, which are discussed in the guide to Catching Tiny Carp.
All four Carp perform adequately in battle. Some have sets of abilities that are unique among Aquatic pets, so can be powerful against specific enemies.
A distinctly average Aquatic pet in battle, the Tiny Goldfish offers nothing unusual.
Two Water Strider can be gained via fishing, neither directly. The Reins of the Azure Water Strider is sold to Exalted Anglers.
The Crimson Water Strider is an identical mount to the Azure Water Strider, except in color: The Crimson Water Strider has red thorax and eyes, with grey-brown body and legs. It is sold by Nat Pagle in at your Garrison Fishing Shack in Draenor.
The Rubber Duck is not a pet, but an item that can be used to play "fetch" with a minipet: Using the item places a yellow Rubber Duck on the ground. Your summoned battle/companion pet will fetch the Duck in their mouth. Rubber Ducks are consumed on use.
Several rafts are also available, including the Anglers Fishing Raft. These are not classified as mounts: Rafts provide buffs similar to water-walking. Unlike mounts, rafts can be fished from. For more detail, see Anglers Fishing Raft.
