4.1 Fishing Highlights
Important fishing changes in patch 4.1:
- New fishing daily quests: Darnassus and Ironforge (for Alliance) and Thunder Bluff and Undercity (for Horde).
- Bloated fish are no longer required for The Limnologist and The Oceanographer.
- Cataclysm catches in Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub.
- Update: Azshara's Veil now caught from Algaefin Rockfish School and Fathom Eel Swarm, and coastal open water of Tol Barad, Twilight Highlands and Uldum. Volatile Water catches in these waters have halved.
Minor changes include:
- Glass Fishing Bobber becomes a +15 lure.
- Guild achievements "We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat" and "Like Shooting Fish In A Barrel" require half as many catches.
- Pre-Cataclysm fish finally migrate away from Azshara (except around the Ruins of Arkkoran) - thanks Hra.

Hra, April 2011:
Couldn't catch a raw summer bass up in Azshara (or a darkclaw lobster either). Seems like the fish match the local mob levels now after 4.1. Got one in Tanaris on 2 casts.

Thanks Hra. Oddly there's still one area that retains the pre-Cataclysm catches - The Ruins of Arkkoran.
Rich Dersheimer, April 2011:
Along with the change to the riding animation, it seems like the fishing animation changed as well with the hotfix to 4.1. Toons now sway forward and back, like they are a bit drunk. And the casting animation looks a bit different too, but I could just be imagining that.
Greg, May 2011:
It appears that oceanic fish have taken over UnGoro and Tainted Forest, making it difficult to finish off Liminoligist.
Greg, May 2011:
Ignore that last post....apparently they've always been there, I just haven't fished those areas
