Pandaria Pools

95% of the catch from pools in Pandaria will be the named fish. The remaining 5% are Sealed Crate (Pandaria). When using an Ancient Pandaren Fishing Charm 20% of catches from pools in Pandaria contain 2 fish, rather than 1 - overall a 20% increase in fish caught.

Pandaria also spawns Fish of the Day pools. These pools contain the same catches as the regular pool types listed above. Only one Fish of the Day migration, with one common catch, is active each day. However Fish of the Day polls are very close together and respawn very quickly, which makes them easier to sustainably fish than regular pools. For further details, read Fish of the Day.

Cataclysm Pools

90% of the catch from these pools will be the named fish, plus up to 10% Volatile Water. Coastal pools contain 5% Volatile Water and 5% Azshara's Veil. Pool of Fire only contain Volatile Fire).

In addition, Shipwreck Debris (Darkmoon) (containing Sealed Crate (Pandaria) or Sealed Crate (Darkmoon)) are found around Darkmoon Island.

Pools appear at a fixed set of possible "nodes" within each zone. Not all these points will have a pool at any one time, as discussed in the Pool Spawning section. In most zones, each possible spawning location may contain any of the pool types that appear in the area. For example, a node on the coast of Hillsbrad Foothills may contain a Firefin Snapper School, Oily Blackmouth School, or Schooner Wreckage Pool. Coastal and inland pools are completely separate. So inland pools in Hillsbrad Foothills will only ever contain Sagefish and wreckage pools.
Now you know where to look to find pools, it is useful to know why those pools might not be there when you try and fish them.

Looks interesting, Mightfish. Unfortunately, the download gives a 403 Forbidden error at the moment.

  3. Mightfish, January 2010:

    I have fix this error.

  1. Balazar, January 2010:

I note the link takes to you a web page, and the download link on the web page is to a .rar file. Perhaps I'm a tad bit paranoid, but I would prefer a straight up image file.

    Thank you for your comments.
Now, you can direct view a picture.

  3. Mightfish, January 2010:

    Updated to version 1.1 !

  4. Christhina, February 2010:

This is actually very handy, and a good record to show new anglers (and handy for us older, more forgetful types like me) :)

Mightfish - I wonder only one thing - the links above appear to take me to the same map that is the entire continent of Northrend, and this map is populated with fishing pools where they spawn in each zone.

Am I missing a reason for the separate links? The map always seems to open "focussed" on Borean Tundra (though I can scroll easily enough to the other zones, of course) - I'm just hoping I'm not missing something, hence I thought I'd ask :)

Either way, this is well done, and thank you for sharing your hard work with us all :)

Thank you for your support !
This function seems simple, but the design is very difficulties.
Sorry, i do not have the ability to solve this problem.

  6. Al, February 2010:

    On a serious note..

  9. Christhina, January 2011:

JTB, I am now getting the same.

Sadly, it seems the map (which was very well done), along with our friend Mightfish, seems to have disappeared :(

Overlaid Pools?

  1. hollyd58, July 2008:

I was fishing the Booty Bay coast and had several instances with both Oilyblackmouth and Firefin pools in the same place. The minimap labeled the @ as both. In one case there were two Firefin pools in the same spot.

Is this new or have I not noticed it before? It sure is nice. Gives more fish from one location.

  2. el, July 2008:

It is rare, but has been happening for several years in Stranglethorn Vale. It is more obvious now with pool tracking (Find Fish).

MoP Honey Holes

  1. Marlburo, December 2012:

Just thought we should have a place where people can post a dense concentration of pools

Nice little spot for Jade Lungfish northwest corner of Jade Forest (24,34) gotta be 8-10 pools in the same little lake and never seems fished. Only a couple 84 crocs which are avoidable or easily killed.

  2. Marlburo, December 2012:

really small circle of rivers with a lake top in Krasarang Wilds. Center of the circle is a small island at 63,25 (just southeast of FP at Thunder Cleft). Usually go around twice and see at least 8 pools of mostly Krasarang Paddlefish and some Emperor Salmon (5 to 2).
